I finally got around to switching to a new mobile phone and decided to try a Windows Pocket PC phone instead of the more traditional style. It works pretty well most of the time, but it has crashed once already in the couple of weeks that I’ve had it.

Time to change mobile phones
I’m completely out of my old mobile contract now, any tariff change will result in a contract renewal for 12 or 18 months, and my ‘would-likes’ have changed so the time has come to investigate changing mobile phone providers.
I’ve been fairly happy with Orange for the last year and a bit, with the exception of keep getting these stupid resellers phoning me up pestering me about upgrading my handset and thus renewing my contract. I must admit I got quite rude with the last couple that phoned.
Lori’s website
Over the last month we’ve been working on Lori’s new website and it’s all starting to look pretty good. Go and check it out for yourself at www.loriamor.co.uk

Here be monsters!
Harry had a Triop World kit for his birthday. Being the geeks that we are, we decided to setup a webcam next to the tank and capture images every minute or so. On Sunday we added the water and half the pack of eggs and plant waste as instructed. By Monday evening there were quite a few barely visible creatures swimming around. By Tuesday evening it was possible to just about distinguish the different kinds of creature – several triops, a few shrimp and some water fleas. As the week went on, the number of creatures gradually decreased until this afternoon there was just a single triop who had eaten the last shrimp!
Reading: Aggressor by Andy McNab and The Twelfth Card by Jeffery Deaver
Having finished Nightlord a while back, I’ve since read Andy McNab’s latest – Aggressor.
Another story continuing the adventures of Nick Stone, this time set in America, Australia and Eastern Europe. As always, Andy McNab has delivered something well worth reading, it’s one page after another of tense moments and plenty of action.
I finished it about a week ago and now I’m onto The Twelfth Card by Jeffery Deaver. I don’t think I’ve ever read any of his books before but it was on offer and looked like it might be interesting.
Day trip to Hunstanton
Maize maze pictures
As promised, here are some pictures from the maize maze last weekend.
This is the way in.. there are sunflowers all around the edge of the maze so if you can see them, you know you’re heading towards the edge of the maze. The maize itself is about 6-7ft high, and the sunflowers were generally just a little taller.
I want one of these…
Caught a brief snippet of this on GeekBrief.TV #0055 but I’ve just found the source of the original video. Go and watch the full video at http://www.ted.com/tedtalks/tedtalksplayer.cfm?key=j_han
I wonder how long it’ll be before this kind of interface is available to everyone.
Maize maze – Whitminster
This weekend we went to visit my parents for a couple of days. It was Geordan’s birthday so we did something different and went to see the maize maze in Whitminster designed by Adrian Fisher.
It’s a great afternoon out for the kids and it takes about an hour and a half to go around it and find the 10 quiz markers so you can enter the competition. Pictures to follow soon.
