You probably didn’t notice unless you’re a regular visitor (in which case “Hello again!”), but I’ve had to disable posting of comments to the entries in this blog. This is due to having had the number of comments double overnight thanks to some unsavoury characters advertising porn and viagra sites in their comments.
I would re-enable them if I can find the option to allow comments to be put in a “pending queue” type thing, assuming there is one, since I would rather not have to go through the hassle of deleting comments every few hours.
Day tripper
Decided to “nip to the beach” today.. of course, starting from Nottingham means that any real beach is a good few hours drive away. Rather than go to Skegness as most people from Nottingham seem to, we journeyed that little bit further and went to North Wales instead!
Reading material
Recently started reading Jonathan Kellerman books and found they’re quite good. The main character is Alex Delaware, a psychologist who helps out the police with cases. Definitely a good read if you like crime/detective type books.
The one I just finished reading was “The Murder Book”.
blog updated
Updated Moveable Type (the blog backend) today. Can’t see any changes so far.

One man went to mow
Mowed the lawn last weekend for the first time in over six months! Unfortunately it now looks like it’ll need mowing again this coming weekend.
Kitchen update
Well, the appliances are finally wired in – just need to put the sponge strip around underneath the hob, fasten the extractor fan hose onto the top, and screw the oven into the cabinet and we can use it. The splashback is going to cause some problems due to the worktop not going right back against the wall. We’ll just have to see how it goes.
Hospitals
After having spent Sunday night in hospital with suspected appendicitis, I can say that it’s really not something I want to do again in a hurry. Thankfully I was feeling much better by the morning and was discharged before lunch. Never did fully figure out what was wrong but I just hope it doesn’t happen again.
Tip of the day/month/whenever
Never mount devfs over /dev – it rather breaks the system until after a forcible reboot!
